Convivencia: Making of the Muslim Civilisation is a course that will take you from the beginning of Islam to the flourishment of the Muslim Civilisation. While doing so it responds to the some of the popular misconceptions about the Muslim Civilisation such as “Was Islam spread by the sword?”, “Did Muslims invade lands and wiped out the minorities, or they managed to find ways of co-existence?
The course talks about how the Muslims practiced the Quranic principles of Justice, tolerance, compassion and how the outcome of the application of these principles resulted in progress and flourishment of the Muslim and non-muslim societies.
By the end of the course, you’ll
- Have an understanding of the Muslim Civilisation with the historical data taken from both Islamic and western sources.
- Learn how and why the early Muslims were motivated to expand into afar lands.
- Be able to debunk the systematic suppression of facts made by the colonial powers throughout the years.
Adnan Rashid
Adnan Rashid is a historian with a specialty in the history of Islamic civilisation, comparative religion and Hadith literature. He has an honors degree in history from the University of London and is currently pursuing further studies. He has also gained Ijazah’s in Hadith from a number of scholars. He also takes a keen interest in Islamic numismatics and ancient manuscripts. He has debated many high profile figures in the field of politics, history and Christian/ Islamic theology. Adnan Rashid loves history, poetry, travelling, antiquities, books and numismatics.
